John Bolton: Trump’s Impeachment Inquiry, by a Democrat

Mnuchin Says That Barrack Opposed the Interests of His Supposed Patrons

The Treasury secretary is telling House Democrats that President Trump’s impeachment investigators “got to where they wanted to go in” by focusing on Barrack’s financial dealings.

Mellman: Trump’s Impeachment Inquiry, by a Democrat

Here are the key clips from the testimony today.

On July 7, 2018, then-Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin was asked about former national security adviser John Bolton’s testimony.

Bolton said in his July 7th deposition that he knew “in my heart” that Trump’s Ukraine dealings were inappropriate, and that he was “worried” that Bolton was “doing a lot of damage to President Trump and not just himself.”

President Trump responded, “There’s two people who know better than any of us – Bob Mueller and John Bolton. And that’s what they’re doing. We don’t have anything to hide.”

Bolton testified that he was “absolutely” aware of how Ukrainians viewed his decision to take money from an American businessman named Lev Parnas.

His attorney, Mark Retkofsky, said this week that it was “completely appropriate” that he “continue to cooperate” with the inquiry.

At the same time, Bolton is testifying under oath as an “officer” of the US government, and his testimony cannot be attacked as a “lie” because he is asserting national security secrets for the US.
