Calendar Feedback: City Council column belonged on front page

The following is an update on the status of major initiatives, community events, and activities taking place in San Jose.

City Council is open to hearing community input on all key initiatives and requests at a Council meeting on Monday, August 11th, starting at 7 pm at City Hall, 515 Mission Street.

The meeting will be open to the public, but only Councilmembers will be in attendance.

Contact members of the public who would like to have an open forum to let the city know what you would like to discuss.

The following initiatives and events are scheduled for August 10th through 13th in San Jose:

The Mission Valley Festival, in conjunction with the San Jose Downtown Association is seeking a new Music Stage Manager. Please contact the director for more information about this event or email [email protected].

The American Red Cross San Jose Office will provide volunteer blood drives from 7-11 pm on August 11th at the American Red Cross, 745 Camino de la Plaza.

The San Jose Parks and Recreation Department will have a “Community Meets City” Day, a free event to highlight the work being done by the Parks and Recreation Department and community partners, from August 10th through 12th.

The San Francisco Giants will host a game at the AT&T Park in San Jose on August 12th, at 4 pm, which will be part of the team’s celebration of the team’s 10th anniversary season.

The San Jose Earthquakes will host the San Jose Earthquakes at their new home, Avaya Stadium, on September 25th, with a sold out match against the LA Galaxy on ESPN2. The match is part of the team’s celebration of 10 years of MLS.

City Council member David Schieffer will be the Mayor of San Jose at a Community Meeting on Saturday, August 15th at 6 pm at the San Jose City Hall, 515 Mission Street, featuring speakers from the Mayor’s Office on the implementation
